Heitor Villa-Lobos's 12 Etudes for Classical Guitar - Free Videos, Sheet Music and Tab
By Ari Lamstein
Introduction
Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) was a Brazilian composer who wrote extensively for the classical guitar. What makes Villa-Lobos' music unique is that it blends elements of the European Classical tradition with traditional Brazilian music. His 12 Etudes for guitar are among the most famous etudes for guitar in the 20th century. They are special in that they are considered true concert works (i.e. they are of a level of difficulty and beauty that is above that of a simple study).
This hub contains free videos of all 12 of Villa-Lobos Etudes, as well as links to free downloads of the sheet music and tab.
Etude 1
Etude 1 is the most famous of the 12 Etudes. After watching this video you will know why! It is an etude in arpeggios, and has a relentless pace. It starts our quiet and gradually gets louder and more intense. At no point does it slow down, however.

Aye, I love it, I have a good number of John Williams on my MP3, I certainly will look for more of this on Rhapsody. Thank you for this collection. This has inspired me to do a couple of music hubs of my own. Thank you doubly.
Thanks for sharing - Villa-Lobos is one of Latin America's greatest composers....

Wow, these are all so beautiful! I love how they're a bit more bubbly- more cheerful, but still pretty ornate. Very cool.
